install kolibri steps

    USB for FAT32 installation:
    1. run inst.exe (folder HD_load\USB_Boot)
    2. choose your drive (example E:\ [USB name])
    3. copy MTLD_F32 to E:\ [USB name]
    4. ???
    4. Copy kolibri.img to your USB stick
    USB for not FAT32 installation: (i dont understand)
    1. ???
    1. Go format your USB stick to FAT32.
    CD/DVD installation :
    1. Download http://kolibrios.org/f/releases/kolibri ... _iso_en.7z
    2. open kolibri_0.7.7.0_iso_en.7z
    3. open kolibri.iso
    4. copy all file on the kolibri.iso paste on CD/DVD
    5. and then restart your computer
    6. OS going to kolibri

    3. Burn iso file to CD using ISO tools (Nero? some freeware?)
    4. boot using CD
    kolibri.img is same with kolibri.iso ??
    where is kolibri.img?
    Nope, kolibri.img is universal image for HD, USB, floppy, VM
    Kolibri.iso is CD image for CD and VM
    Kolibri.iso include kolibri.img file inside iso file.
    You can download both versions from our site: http://kolibrios.org
    HardDisk Installation:

    Step 2. For users of NT-family (NT/2k/XP/2003 Server (?)):
    add to boot.ini to the section [operating systems] line
    c:\mtldr="KolibriOS"
    (either open c:\boot.ini with any text editor, or through
    Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery
    -> Edit). You can change the title in quotes to anything you like,
    under this title the system will appear to bootload list.
    Now at booting the screen of operating system choice will appear.
    It's true if you're using Windows XP/Vista/7/8 or something Windows NT-based. Otherwise use GRUB/MTLD_F32

    No, you don't need to restart your PC. Note that you'll lose all data on your USB stick.

    This works fine on my older pendrives of up to 2Gb.
    When installed on my USB pendrives of 4Gb or more, the boot hangs (a blinking cursor). :(

    1. Could anyone get it to work on a >2Gb pendrive?
    2. are the sources of inst.exe, mtld_F32, and bootF32.bin public?

    1. It should work. If not, run the program from the attachment viewtopic.php?p=54202#p54202 - it dumps several important areas from the target drive to the file "diskdump.bin" - and attach the resulting "diskdump.bin" here.

    Yes, I got it working on many 4GB and 8GB USB pendrives. For some drives, you need also to run "setmbr.exe" in addition to all of the above steps.

    Executing setmbr.exe before the inst.exe solved the problem.

    Thank you for the sources. Someone should try to boot Kolibri from UEFI.
    I had no reaction on my earlier post about it. viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2730.

    I did find above the details for the HD installation:

    But I don't have some Windows etc. but Linux only starting with Grub (legacy, actually installed, but I could reinstall easily Grub2).

    Kolibri offers divers downloads.

    I did download the ISO and open it and find kolibri.img

    Can I use it within an ext4 partition (where actually grub is installed), in my actual case logical partition No. 7 ?

    what is to add in menu.lst ?
