Dosbox 0.74 Kolibri OS Nightly Build crashes Dosbox

Post here questions, problems and suggestions in English language
  • DosBox isn't good thing to boot Kolibri. I started night builds with edited "autorun.dat", and I managed to start Tinypad in KOS in DosBox, as well as desktop, but it didn't worked well, it was very unstable.
  • Yes, we already had discussion about this in Russian part of the forum: viewtopic.php?f=43&t=671&start=105#p37763
DosBox doesn't support all the instructions that KolibriOS needs. We think because it only emulates i486 while KolibriOS needs i586.
If you want to run KolibriOS in emulator, use any other emulator available: QEMU, VMWare, BOCHS, VirtualBox, etc.
  • Hi,

thats a pitty because other emulators are rare on the nokia n900. For pc I have no problems using other emulators.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

But you had BOCHS working on your Nokia N900 already, you posted about this around 1 year ago: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2023
Did it stop working since then?
  • You can use qemu-i386 in your n900, no?
  • I can not find any qemu port to the n900 so far. Have to look when I am back home.
  • Afaik, n900 uses Linux with ARM deb-packages? If so, try qemu from Debian ARM repo.
  • Bochs did work and still does, but there was the mouse issue which only could be used via vncserver and pc mouse and there was no fullscreen. So I tried dosbox a dead end, too. Next try qemu when I find out how and where to get it.
  • How do you set up qemu on the console? I got qemu installed, but can not figure out how to boot the kolibri image. I hate no tipping everything on terminals xD
  • qemu-i386 -fda kolibri.img -boot a
    Should be enough
  • qemu-i386 kolibri.img did end with no errors but no output ether. Guess I will have to ask on the maemo forum what might went wrong.

If I am right I will have to use vncviewer?!? Strange but I will test it after work:

This is what I found on the maemo forum!

    $ /opt/qemu/bin/qemu -fda /opt/qemu/share/qemu/afdbd.ima -m 8 -vnc :0
  • If qemu built without SDL output, then yes, you'll have to use VNC.
  • I boot dosbox in nightbuild 7.0.0.0+ and since the box I'm on is setup with freedos 0.84beta, I run command, works pretty good, has some troubles tho, I mount using mount c /hd0/1/ and this it understands, tho my winversion dosbox expects mount c c:\, If I have say eolite running,
then dosbox won't go, maybe it is some ram problem, even tho I have 213mb out of 229mb free; dosbox won't make dir, wont move, but does a copy, am using doszip as dos browser, as that is my fav dos browser.

Maybe EOLITE locks the folder and then DOSBOX cannot access it. Can you post a screenshot of your situation? To make a screenshot, just press PrintScreen button on your keyboard, and then save the screenshot to /hd0/1 harddisk and then upload it to this forum. To upload the screenshot, when you reply to my post, at the bottom of the text screen for reply message, you see a few buttons "Preview", "Submit", "Save draft", "Cancel". Below those buttons, there is another button "Choose File". Press this button and then press "Add the file" to the right of that button. And then press "Submit" - your post will be uploaded with the screenshot together.
