Intel is releasing a new processor family called 'quark', designed for 'the internet of things'.
It seems to be ia-32 based and might find it's way into some embedded devices, if the price will be right offcourse.
This galileo board, supposed to be a competitor of the Raspberry Pi, looks like a nice platform for KolibriOS.

EDIT: it's no competitor for the r-PI at all, as this board has no graphics output.

Yes, as SoUrcerer said it should be possible, but financially it would make more sense to use a cheaper competitor product 86duino: http://shop.dmp.com.tw/INT/products/23 (it's just 39$, only 4$ more than Raspberry Pi).
But the cheaper product has less cpu power and less ram! A standard plattform would be nice!

KolibriOS only uses 8MB RAM, so there is little difference between 128MB and 256MB RAM onboard, aside from higher price
for video playback and better emulators
Current video playback in KolibriOS is awful even on much faster processors, but that is because KolibriOS uses VESA for video output. +100MHz won't change anything.baggacfreak wrote:for video playback and better emulators

Yes but what firmware do the devices have? Galileo uses Intel's flavor of TianoCore (OpenSource UEFI BIOS), so no idea about that one. 86duino uses Coreboot BIOS which has VBE/VESA modules (like SeaBIOS), so that should be only a matter of compiling their BIOS with correct modules added.hidnplayr wrote:Yes but what firmware do the devices have? Maybe we should make a new kickstarter campaign to get a standard plattform for all of the kolibrios users and developers. Something like those hdmi sticks that have android on them. What do you think?

yes, that is what I meant! If we all use the same cheap hardware it would help both users and developers!

Intel based 32Bit CPU > 1GHz
SVGA or HD compatible HDMI
1-2 GB Ram
maybe microsd as storage
USB or Bluetooth keyboard/mouse
(optional crypto chip)
cheap price and open hardware of course!
