Re: Trying out the latest - video problem

beacon@videotron.ca When can we expect another kernel ? What do you mean? All sources are placed in the SVN repository. All the latest updates, you can get here http://kolibrios.org/?p=Download&lang=en Also, you do not have to use the BIOS to 256 Mb of memory for video, 8 Mb is enough to establ...

Re: Trying out the latest - video problem

Most modern video cards are VESA 2.0 compatible, just not all intel one's :P You could create a booteable floppy or CD with dos + the utility i linked too (freedos will do fine http://www.freedos.org/) Well I have since discovered that my chipset IS vesa 2.0 compatible. http://support.intel.com/sup...

Re: Trying out the latest - video problem

beacon@videotron.ca The utility works in WinXP and MSDOS, naturally with Linux it's not working. Run the utility and you will see. But that's the problem - the only OS on this machine is two versions of Linux. Anyway I already know that the Intel video is not Vesa 2.0 compatible...hope to find a ca...

Re: Trying out the latest - video problem

hidnplayr You forgot to add that Kolibri support for Vesa mode only with the depth of color 24b and 32b, as well as the sizes are not more than 1280 * 1024. beacon@videotron.ca Video cards working with Vesa 2.0 are well enough supported. To check support to you it is necessary to start the offered ...

Re: Trying out the latest - video problem

I was hoping for a solution...oh well.... I'm afraid there is no readily available solution. Try running this program on your computer http://www.mikedld.com/.old/f/vesa3.zip (it runs on dos) If this program shows more videomodes then in KolibriOS, then there is probably a bug in KolibriOS kernel. ...

Re: Trying out the latest - video problem

Like most intel cards, yours is probably not VESA compatible. Just to make sure, some questions: - Are any modes other then 640*480*16 and 320*240*256 listed ? no..just those two. - Did you try to disable VRR ? It was disabled already. welcome to the forums btw Thanks very much. I was hoping for a ...

Trying out the latest - video problem

An amazing OS! But I wish I could get it to run in something better than 640x480 and 256 colours. I have an Intel board with built-in video 865 and an LCD monitor. But the screen looks like it did back in WIndows 3.1!!!
Can you help ???
