hello,

In first place sorry for my english :(
actually I need to use a very light OS for the pc of my mather (an Acer TravelMate 4200 with only 512 MB of ram). With xp is almost impossible navigate into the Internet (youtube pages) and use skype in a confortable way (only calls, not videocalls). So I found severals interesting solutions in this article:
http://www.tasc.it/2012/11/05/42-sistem ... i-leggeri/
when I saw that Kolibri require only 8 mb of ram for running I was very surprising!
I would ask if it is possible use this operating system in according with needs of my mather (only two):
- load videos of youtube
- and the most important: use skype or some compatible software for communicate with her brother using the call functionality

thanks guys :)

Sorry, but right now unfortunately it's not possible to use KolibriOS for those tasks. Maybe in 6 months it would be possible - we are working on porting a web browser.
In your situation, I think the best OS is Puppy Linux or Damn Small Linux.

Both Puppy Linux and Damn Small Linux are lighter than Lubuntu. I haven't tried xPUD.
Puppy Linux works in the same manner as KolibriOS - it loads itself into RAM, so it works fast even on slow computers.
