I'm not providing setup tool for Alter. But you can use any suitable hex editor, e.g.
HxD.
Does "bootsect /nt52 k:" not work? bootsect can be found in folder "boot" in distribution disk.
I see that your Windows partition is not active now, so using grub perhaps will be easier for you.

I think I will stay with things as they are now. I scrambled my computer's boot record a couple times and am afraid to touch it again for a while. Using Grub2, Kolibri boots pretty slowly (I searched the forum and found at least one other person with this problem) but once it loads, everything seems fine. So I am happy for now. Anyway I already learned something - about primary and extended partitions

Please, try another MEMDISK version. May be this version tries to emulate floppy booting.
