At my workplace, I have a dozen computers with certain configuration. Running ZEROCONF on any of them immediately reboots the PC. I have tried this both with trunk kernel, and with latest USB-test kernel. Output of PCIDEV is attached. The network card is onboard.
yogev_ezra « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:19 pm » hidnplayr: Do you have any idea why in trunk on certain network cards running ZEROCONF immediately reboots the PC? Could it be ZEROCONF or trunk problem? Are you willing to take a look at it?
hidnplayr « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:23 pm » yogev_ezra: Computer reboots when zeroconfig is run?
hidnplayr « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:23 pm » sounds like kernel problem
yogev_ezra « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:24 pm » hidnplayr: Yes. But only on specific computers (or specific network cards - I don't know).
yogev_ezra « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:25 pm » hidnplayr: Do you suggest I re-compile ZEROCONF with debug output, and capture the moment in goes into reboot?
hidnplayr « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:25 pm » yogev_ezra: That is one crappy bug report
hidnplayr « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:26 pm » yogev_ezra: I'll try to reproduce the bug on local machine
yogev_ezra « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:26 pm » hidnplayr: I want to submit a proper bug report, but I don't know where to start from. That's why I asked you - because it happens ONLY when I run ZEROCONF and only on SPECIFIC computer model
hidnplayr « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:28 pm » yogev_ezra: can you tell me more about the computer?
hidnplayr « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:28 pm » it may be related to the network driver
yogev_ezra « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:28 pm » hidnplayr: viewtopic.php?p=47790#p47790 (the board log is without running ZEROCONF of course)
hidnplayr « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:32 pm » yogev_ezra: Have you tried the kernel without USB ?
yogev_ezra « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:33 pm » hidnplayr: Yes, behavior is the same. Reboot when running ZEROCONF
hidnplayr « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:48 pm » yogev_ezra: It works on my machines, but i noted that the PCI card in your machine is on bus 2
hidnplayr « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:49 pm » i have only tested device on bus 0 and bus 1 AFAIK
hidnplayr « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:50 pm » can you move the card to another slot, or is it onboard?
yogev_ezra « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:52 pm » hidnplayr: Yes, it's onboard. But I can try to debug ZEROCONF and see where it reboots. BTW I haven't found a topic on ZEROCONF, so I think I will create one now.
hidnplayr « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:53 pm » yogev_ezra: try opening stackcfg and set 'packet driver' and hit apply
hidnplayr « Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:53 pm » it should reseult in same disaster most likely
