Netsurf

Good point, but lets imagine that some user downloaded Kolibri and ran nsinstall.
He didn't read this topic and don't know that he need to open debug board and run /tmp0/1/netsurf
So 99% he will think that this app doesn't work.

I will try to fix this, you'll see.
    OK! Great.
Yes, I do see the problem indeed.

Also..can you perhaps make a new icon in the icons32.png which I can use for NSINSTALL?

  • Did a small test for leency and download did not work with netsurf.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWdIjp5jD9g

Had to use the downloader application. Should that work?
  • Downloader doesn't work in Netsurf yet.
For downloading files you can use /sys/network/downloader or /sys/network/webview build in downloader till it would be implemented in Netsurf nativelly.

  • Hi,

I did the acid 3 test. Maybe we should start with the first oldschool browser engine test: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid1 Acid 1 and than go from there. The new versions all need javascript.

Hope that helps. Did not find any other browser engine test which would do std browser html tests yet.
  • With the newest fixes in TCP stack, netsurf feels a lot better/faster when loading websites.
Try using the newest one off nsinstall and report bugs!

  • Hi,

do you mean I need a new nsinstall or does the old one load the newest netsurf binary? If there are fixes in TCP Stack, should I set up kolibri os with the newest image and kolibrios folder, too?

Thanks for the great work, again!

    Only require these steps :

    Get latest kolibri.img file.
    Run Nsinstall from desktop.
    Run netsurf-kolibrios from /tmp0/1

You dont need to change kolibrios/ folder.

  • Good to know. I will try it. Maybe tomorrow I will find time after work.
  • Hi,
I did a test with the image from 28.08.2017 and the newest. The video needs to be edited so I will have to upload it tomorrow. Speed is better and images are loaded in the new version?!? You will see what I mean when I finish the video and link it here. htmldog.com/examples did not work it would help to test html 4 functions.

    Till tomorrow!
  • Here you go. I used the time to learn more skills with video editing:

  • Hello!

Some more fixes to Netsurf :
Fix issue where some sites will never load.
Fix implementation of linked list of http connections in http fetcher code.
Make browser window bigger (close to full screen now, real browser experience)

Also made some fixes to HTTP but they are not merged to SVN yet which takes care of messed up encoding on some websites.

    Can be installed using NSINSTALL.

Bug reports / crash reports welcome.

    Thanks

Well, as I promised I've made some design updates.
In archive you will find updated homepage and arrows in Kolibri style.

    What do you think?
    Hi,
I've included your netsurf.png and icons into netsurf!
I guess we can do better with the welcome.html page, so I've left it as it is for now, maybe we can change it later.
