KOS for standalone players

Modern standalone (HD-based) DVR/players are cheap and feature-rich enough, but their embedded OSes are are often very "basic".
Here's en examble of a cool box with poor soft:

Check out its manual (pag. 9+) to earn its software poorness.

The idea: is it possible to port KOS on it (or similar players) ?

I believe that would be very interesting to have a cool open source OS, both for manufacturers (that could also economically sustain its development) and final users (that obtain a sort of "microPC" instead of just a player).

Do you agree ?

Actually, this sector is a consumer-aimed branch of more "serious" industrial embedded devices' mainstream.
It usually inherits a PowerPC or other cheap and straight-embeddeable platform with a U-boot bootloader and a minimalistic Linux engine.

In principle, we might build something like this when (and if) a stable "Embedded-KOS" version appears.
But I'm not sure about production price: x86 micro-ATX platforms are usually more expensive than those mini-boards

:)
Portable DivX MPEG4 Player
EH-25MP
System requirements and specifications
Supported OS Windows 98/SE, ME, 2000, XP
Mac OS 10.2 or higher
Minimum PC
requirement
CPU: Intel Pentium III 500MHz
Memory: 128MB
USB port: USB 2.0 or USB
Из спецификации я так понял, что это x86.

Google-russian:
Нет, это те требования к системе для удаленного управления устройством.

Я думаю, все они основаны на ARM (например, Sigma Designs SMP8635)

Well, 'cause I know that an ARM port is pretty impossible, it would be great anyway to let Kolibri become an alternative solution to give a new (HTPC) life to dated 32-bit machines (sockets 370 and 462 CPUs).

MenuetOS64 already offers a multimedia application, but a 32-bit/GPL version would be more useful, IMHO.
