KolibriOS install on a floppy

Post here questions, problems and suggestions in English language
  • hi,
You should only use one of official KolibriOS releases, none of those is 2.2Mb
Please follow the links shown on our frontpage:

  • Hello!

Here is a link to the nightly builds:
    http://builds.kolibrios.org/eng/

    Take a file named svnXXXX-img.7z
  • I guess the problem is an archive. Jan741, "7z" file is an archive file, which you should unpack first with free 7z archiver. After unpacking, you'll have a lot of document pages and file called "kolibri.img". It's floppy image, which you can write on floppy only with RawWrite/WinImage/dd/SomethingElseLikeThis. Also, you can install "kolibri.img" on your SD/USB stick or Hard Disk. Read documentation for further info. If something will be unclear, ask here. Good luck :)
  • Btw, there may be some issues with internet yet.

The file M32-086.iso is 1.40 MB so can't be write on floopy. Should be writed?
I don't remeber when last time used this hard drive and disk but question is:
    1. We should just copy M32-086.iso on disk and run in boot normaly like old dos disks before format w95?
    2. Or need more actions to prepare kOS?
  • There is Menuet instalation
    http://menuetos.net/download.htm
    Installer for Windows: MDW64-1.28.80.EXE
    but only x64 that made https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/menuetf ... -t850.html
    1. Anybody know some instalation for x86-32 for mOS?
    2. Can kOS prepare some easy way to install something like this but for x86 and x64 for floppy?

I tried with kOS in wariable ways to install eg usb, floppy.. and all fails. I planing describe this in other posts, but use my old computer in this way is interesing. Looking back to work with asm in this : )

  • OK, I found this http://board.kolibrios.org/viewtopic.ph ... 965#p55048
..but I think that instalation FAQ should be prepared on wiki as "How to install"
    http://wiki.kolibrios.org/wiki/FAQ
  • I really don't know wich version/files should I use for floppy and how to install.
In case fo this problems on laptop
    http://board.kolibrios.org/viewtopic.ph ... 965#p71963

On PC where I have floppy exist only boot from floppy, hdd,cd.
Soo.. i tried to copy files to floppy that kinst done on usb memory flash. But of course.. can't run this.. "wrong disk" etc.

I don't understand why kolibri operate on .img file (kolibri.img) not the packet of files to run on floppy or usb flash or hdd.
  • There is additional missundestanding
    1. In http://www.kolibrios.org/en/download -in Universal image Flash/HDD
    2. In http://archive.kolibrios.org/en/ - is Floppy image
But there is no supprt probably from 1 to 2 (floppy), eg. knist 1.85 can be on 1.38 floppy disk, and can't install on disk kOS
Need info on 1 about version, to be clear here. Can be useful in future.
