Re: Who created “home.png”

That's a surprising find. It does have that old Macpaint aesthetic :)
Thanks very much.

Re: How does Netsurf work?

You are very kind for responding. Thank you. I wish Kolibri-N were available in full English as well. In the meantime though, I am now using both :) Very happy to have found Kolibri. If there is any way I (as a regular user) can help support the project (besides talking about it in videos and social...

Re: How does Netsurf work?

I have downloaded that image and have added it to my GRUB to try it out. Kolibri-N is in Russian, but because I am getting comfortable with the regular Kolibri OS, I can get around just fine. It would not hurt me to learn some Cyrillic text would it :) It's a beautiful language in my opinion. Can I ...

Who created “home.png”

The default desktop background, the small home floating in space. Does anyone know who is the author of that image? I would like to contact them if possible.

Re: How does Netsurf work?

I am posting an update of my findings in this thread for newcomers looking for answers, or in other words, historical purposes. I would honestly welcome any corrections! As of this posting, it is not inaccurate to say Kolibri doesn't really have much of a web browser. There is a built-in browser cal...

If at any point in the present or future is interested in using the grub background I slapped together, here it is:

Only Playing Around: A Pretty Boot Up

https://youtu.be/1o8paucePk0 Nothing amazing, just being unnecessary, and having a little fun. I gave the background of my GRUB2 boot up a nifty Kolibri OS background, and made it appear that Kolibri OS is not just default, but the single and only option at boot. Since the tower I'm running this on ...

Re: Migrate to GitHub

Regarding your poll - "Migrate to GitHub? [Yes/No]" - I voted "No" because I don't think it is a good idea to just destroy the current infrastructure and just jump to Github - because that will make us 100% dependant on Github and its' problems. Sometimes, although rarely, Githu...

How does Netsurf work?

I have noticed that the application nsinstall will download netsurf to /tmp0/1, but however I navigate there, I have found no way to actually run the application. The nsinstall doesn’t put it anywhere immediately obvious to begin with, but regardless, once it is successfully downloaded, how do you r...

Skins: Bug or user error?

Hello friends. I am aware that any changes made in the user environment require the use of "rdsave" and writing changes to the ramdisk image before rebooting the machine. Everything so far I have ever changed (even small things like the wallpaper) remain exactly where I left them after sav...

Re: Requesting Install/Boot Help

OK then, here it is: https://youtu.be/jqn5rWD0yTE I have only seen a couple of posts in this forum (in English anyway) of people wanting to install the OS natively (as in, booting and running Kolibri without external media.) I have detailed in this video exactly how I got everything working exactly ...

Re: Requesting Install/Boot Help

I’m again posting in this thread to possibly help future users get the ball rolling in a straightforward manner on installing Kolibri to the hard drive (or more technically booting it from hd instead of external storage. Remembering that Kolibri itself is a ram disk image OS and doesn’t technically ...

Re: Requesting Install/Boot Help

Thank you but unfortunately none of that information is working for me. I do not have Windows, it's a blank machine, so those specific instructions don't apply. I am not giving up the fight but thus far, I have tried (as in that same document) mtldr on FreeDOS 1.2, MS-Dos 7.1 (unofficial), and MS-Do...

Requesting Install/Boot Help

Hello everyone. I am quite new to Kolibri and have been doing alot of reading on the subject of installation, which it seems it's not exactly "designed" for hard drive installation. Still, is anyone willing and able to take the time to give me a literal step by step to get this booting nat...
